Candida

Candida (Candida Albicans) is a pathogenic fungus that is commonly found on the skin, in the mouth and gut and also the mucous membranes.

Often the first sign of a Candida infection is a bout of Thrush, especially one that will not go away or returns very quickly once treatment is stopped.

Candida can only establish itself if the body's natural defence systems have been impaired, and biochemical levels have altered to create ideal Candida conditions.

To tackle Candida permanently, rather than just camouflage the symptoms, we need to identify the underlying factors that have compromised the natural defensive and healing processes and have created the conditions necessary for Candida to take hold.

Eczema.

Many people suffer from eczema (atopic dermatitis). Eczema is an itchy, red rash. It can appear all over the body, and many people have it on their elbows or behind their knees. Babies often have eczema on the face, especially the cheeks and chin. They can also have it on the scalp, trunk (chest and back), and on the outer arms and legs. Children and adults tend to have eczema on the neck, wrists, ankles, and in areas that bend, like the inner elbow and knee.

The number of sufferers has increased 2/3 times over the past 30 years. For every 10 children, 1 or 2 of them have eczema. That is 10% to 20%. For adults, the rate is 1% to 3%, or 1 to 3 of every 100 adults.

Eczema, in common with most ill health conditions, is believed to establish itself only when the body's natural defensive and healing systems are at a low ebb.

Modern processed food and industrial farming techniques, which can result in nutrient deficiencies, and the accumulation of toxic substances, which in turn can inhibit our defensive systems, have been suggested as possible underlying cause for the rise in cases of eczema and many other conditions. If we can identify the specific set of underlying problems (which will be different for each of us), we are then in a position to target and correct those issues.
