The simplicity and power of coaching lies in its focus on individual growth and development. It enables the client to move towards their goals, concentrating upon the future, through a series of purposeful conversational meetings.
This process enables the client to clarify what they want and to find the resources to meet the challenges along their chosen path.
Coaching is a partnership with the client to create personal learning and development. The agenda is decided by the client, and the coach is responsible for keeping the process productively on track. The coach’s role is to listen, to question, to reflect, to encourage, challenge and to support.
In this way coaching can be an incredibly powerful tool to move organisations and individuals forward.
Why use a coach?
The coaching situation allows us the time and space to assess where we are and what we truly want out of our life and relationships. Amid the distractions, pressures of life, or just the routine of basic day-to-day living, coaching can provide the opportunity to seek understanding of our selves and recognise what we really deserve. Often we may feel dissatisfied with aspects of our lives but find ourselves unable to easily make the necessary change.
The commitment to coaching demonstrates your personal pledge to bringing yourself closer to what you deserve. Situations you have found frustrating and dissatisfying can be resolved and moved on from towards greater personal successes. Characteristically, higher achievers frequently use a coach.
When can coaching take place?
Coaching is a series of structured, confidential conversations which generally last about an hour. Usually a programme of six sessions is recommended to give the client the knowledge and motivation they need.
Coaching can take place face-to-face or over the phone. Appointments can be very flexible, to suit client needs and budget.
During the coaching sessions an action plan will be designed and the resources necessary will be identified. Support by phone, text, or email can be agreed where necessary between sessions.
The coaching situation is a results-based process, which means that the client has someone to help them focus on their successes and celebrate the changes, discoveries and rewards encountered on the path to the desired outcome.
