Description
Self-help groups provide a forum where people who are affected by a similar problem can meet to share experiences and coping strategies with others. Groups aim to provide mutual support and understanding in a non-judgemental, confidential environment. Group members are able to express their feelings without explanation or guilt and reduce feelings of isolation that they may be experiencing. Some of the groups in this chapter are run by people with a personal experience of the problem, others are facilitated by professionals.
