Why Online Counselling/Coaching?

Have you considered seeking some help with your problems but you were just too busy to schedule an appointment and still meet your other responsibilities, or you didn’t want to waste your time sitting in a waiting room with strangers waiting your turn?

Maybe you would just prefer the privacy and informality of discussing your issues in the security of your own home, office, hotel or student accommodation.

Or maybe you are experiencing a medical illness or disability that makes it difficult for you to visit a practitioner’s premises.

Other possible reasons why Online Counselling/Coaching could suit you are that you….

• live in a remote area or are unable to travel;
• are hearing-impaired and would prefer to use text only communication;
• have a profession where you travel with your work and therefore away from home for extended periods.
• have an irregular schedule;
• are agoraphobic;
• perceive there to be a stigma attached to traditional counselling;
• find face-to-face meetings stressful;
• are a parent who is unable to obtain childcare.

Online Counselling/Coaching allows you to receive help in your own time, without having to take time off work or seek a babysitter and within the complete privacy of your own home.

Online Counselling Service

The service offered by www.virtual-counsellor.org provides a way for those in need to receive counselling via the internet. On this site you can choose between counselling by email or real time counselling via instant messaging (IM). Everything that is discussed is confidential and no record is made. It is possible to communicate by voice if you wish to do so (depending on your connection), otherwise it will be text only communication.

Clients wishing to use this option will have a clear idea of what they would hope to benefit from working through their issues with a counsellor. Like face-to-face counselling, the counsellor and client will contract at the outset for an agreed number of sessions. Some people may benefit after just one session, others may require more. It is important that counsellor and client both agree on the length of the course so there is something to aim for and achieve. The sessions are usually weekly. Clients may choose to re-contract again after the agreed period if they feel they need to.

If you feel that you would like to try Online Counselling please contact us by emailing virtual_counsellor_uk@yahoo.co.uk with a brief description of your situation.

You will be offered an appointment with one of our Counsellors as soon as is practicably possible.

NB. Online Counselling is not the right choice for you…

• If you are thinking of harming yourself or others;
• If you are experiencing psychotic symptoms (hearing voices, paranoia etc);
• If you need specialist support.

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms it is important to seek help through your General Practitioner (GP).

Online Life Coaching

What can a life coach do for you?

Well, the answer to that question depends entirely on you and the choice of coach you make. Many coaches focus on particular ‘problem areas’, such as poor presentation and communication skills, or difficulties caused by procrastination. They use set tools to ‘fix’ whatever the clients say is wrong with them. We do not believe in this approach—if it were that easy, people wouldn’t need any outsider to help them. They could buy the self-help book and get on with it themselves.

Our coaches offer their clients a safe, yet challenging, environment in which they can explore their feelings and work out what’s troubling them with the help of objective, non-judgmental, input. Our role is to:

  • try to really understand you and the issues you are struggling with;
  • help you regain and maintain self-confidence, self-acceptance and self-belief
  • encourage you to acknowledge your core strengths;
  • examine your goals, interests and choices;
  • explore real and perceived stumbling blocks to progress;
  • help you achieve a sense of purpose;
  • help you live a fulfilled and authentic life.

Clients wishing to use this option will have a clear ideal of what they would hope to benefit from working through their issues with a Life Coach. As with face-to-face Life Coaching, the coach and client will contract at the outset for an agreed number of sessions. Some people may benefit after just one session, others may require more. It is important that coach and client both agree on the length of the course so there is something to aim for and achieve. The sessions are usually weekly. Clients may choose to re-contract again after the agreed period if they feel they need to.

If you feel that you would like to work with a Life Coach please contact us by emailing virtual_counsellor_uk@yahoo.co.uk with a brief description of your situation.

You will be offered an appointment with one of our Life Coaches as soon as is practicably possible.

Email Counselling

Email Counselling takes place by the exchange of emails. Some people prefer to put their thoughts and feelings in writing and this can be therapeutic in itself.

If you feel that you would like to try Email Counselling please contact us by emailing virtual_counsellor_uk@yahoo.co.uk with a brief description of your situation.

Our Counsellors/Coaches

All of our counsellors and coaches are trained practitioners and are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Our areas of expertise are wide-ranging and diverse and cover the following areas:

  • stress
  • work related problems
  • relationship difficulties
  • panic attacks
  • bereavement
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • personal development

We have chosen to specialise in online or 'virtual' counselling/coaching so that, although based all over the UK, (Cardiff, Essex, Glasgow, Surrey and Suffolk) we are able, through the use of technology, to work collaboratively and pool our professional resources.

As we have chosen to work in this manner our overheads are relatively low, which means we can offer a good quality service at an affordable rate. It has concerned us in the past that to many counselling has been inaccessible because of the costs involved and we would like to do our bit to remedy that situation. We are a 'not for profit' organisation and a proportion of our fee goes to charity.

Initial consultation of up to 40 minutes chat or single exchange of emails: £20

Single follow-up session and/or email over the period of one week: £15

Two follow-up sessions and/or emails over the period of two weeks: £20
Three follow-up sessions and/or emails over the period of three weeks: £25

Payment can also be made through ebay by searching for online counselling and/or life coaching where we are registered as virtual-counsellor-uk.

We regret that we have to insist that payment is made prior to each session. We also reserve the right to terminate a session and block individuals if our counsellors/coaches are subjected to inappropriate, abusive or suggestive behaviour. In extreme cases the proper reporting procedures will be adhered to.

Contact Us

We request that all initial contact is made through email. We will reply as soon as is practicably possible with a request for further details so that we can allocate to you a suitable Counsellor/Life Coach. You may, of course, download the Needs Analysis Questionnaire and email that direct to us to speed the process up.
